Project Manager — Research and Development

ROLE DESCRIPTION

  • Develop and formulate new products in accordance with client specifications and applicable regulations
  • Establish and maintain product specifications and technical data sheets
  • Optimize and improve existing formulations
  • Plan, conduct, and analyze laboratory and plant trials
  • Monitor analyses (quality, chemical, and shelf life) with external laboratories
  • Prepare technical reports and recommend necessary adjustments
  • Support production during product launches and adjust formulations as needed
  • Coordinate sample shipments and conduct client presentations/tastings
  • Respond to client technical inquiries and provide internal technical support
  • Participate in the selection and approval of raw materials and substitute ingredients
  • Identify opportunities to optimize costs and processes
  • Perform any other related duties as required by the position

Requirements

  • College Diploma (DEC) in Food Processing, Dietetics, or any other equivalent training
  • 2–3 years of experience in Food Product Research & Development
  • Knowledge of Health Canada and Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) standards
  • Knowledge of HACCP quality program and SQF standard
  • Attention to detail, rigor, and strong organizational skills
  • Autonomy, analytical thinking, and basic mathematical skills
  • Knowledge of basic ingredients
  • Proficiency in spoken and written French and English
  • Communication with clients, production, suppliers, customer service, and shipping departments
  • Proficiency in Word, Excel, and Outlook
