Marc MontourSince 1954, Montour has been growing and adapting to the market with its range of options for meat processors. Now in its fourth generation, the family business has always turned challenges into opportunities for evolution.
Montour is the main supplier of spice mixes, marinades and natural sausage casings to banners such as IGA and Métro. The company has become a leader in its field by keeping ahead of consumer trends and needs.
Our story
- 1954 Joseph Hervé Montour founds his spice and natural sausage casing distribution company in Montreal.
- 1959 Montour Ltée opens a plant in north Montreal, and Joseph Hervé Montour begins making his own spice blends and importing sausage casings.
- 1960–1990 The company grows, and several of Joseph’s family members join the team. Montour is a resounding success, and butchers all over Quebec trust the brand to season their meats and prepare their sausages, cretons and various other meat products.
- 1990 The organization adapts to new food standards and relocates its activities to a larger plant in Blainville.
- 2000–2010 Quebec supermarkets, now equipped with their own butchers, call on Montour’s expertise. The brand is gaining recognition across Canada, even in large meat processing plants.
- 2010 to present The company continues to grow, and a fourth generation of the family takes the helm. Montour continues to set itself apart by offering innovative solutions to its clients and acquiring state-of-the-art equipment.
